Cycling and (e-)mountain biking in the Tuxertal

In the Zillertal, more than 80 km of bike and cycling paths invite you to jump on your bike. If you prefer it a bit more comfortable, you can always use an E-bike or if you like breaking a sweat, just use an ordinary mountain bike. In addition to pleasant valley cycling routes, you can also find enticing and sensational mountain bike trails. Freeriders will feel at home on the challenging single trails – and a “hell ride” will surely provide you with lots of adrenaline..

A particularly scenic mountain bike tour in the Tux Valley directly from Hintertux to the Tuxer Joch.
 

Riding time: 1.5 hours Hintertux-Bichlalm-Tuxer Joch
Altitude difference: Start 1,505 m (Hintertux), end 2,338 m (Tuxer Joch)
Kilometers: 9.1 km from the valley station of the glacier lift (asphalt 0.8 km, gravel 8.3 km)

Tip: moderately difficult tour with a steep section from the Sommerbergalm to the Tuxer Joch

Tour description: From Hintertux, the route first leads along a gravel road to the Jausensation Bichlalm at an altitude of 1,695 meters. The mountain bike tour then leads into flatter terrain until you cross the Weitentalbach stream. You then ride through a beautiful larch forest before cycling uphill to the Sommerbergalm. Last but not least, you climb several hairpin bends to the Tuxerjochhaus - the destination of your tour in the Tuxertal.

Demanding but short tour from Tux to the Wanglalm with a fantastic panorama of the Tux Alps. Get on your mountain bike and ride past rushing streams, through shady forests and up to beautiful alpine meadows!

Tour description: You start your mountain bike tour in the village center of Tux-Vorderlanersbach up to the impressive Wanglalm. You first follow several hairpin bends through meadows and fields before turning right before the Bruchbach stream. After a steep ascent to the beginning of the forest, you cross the Röthelbach - from here the gravel path begins, which climbs slightly to the Hoserbach and later climbs steeply and in several hairpin bends to the Wanglalm. After a relaxing break at the Wanglalm, it is also worth taking a final stage over the Penkenjoch in the direction of Finkenberg and on to Hippach. Up there you can enjoy the magnificent view of the Zillertal before heading back down into the valley.

Challenging but rewarding tour to the Geiseljoch (2,290 m) with fantastic views of the Tux Alps. An active exploration tour through the impressive Tux Valley!

Kilometers: 12.3 km (asphalt 5.7 km, gravel 6 km, single trail 0.6 km)
Tip: You share the last 100 meters of the tour with the hikers on the hiking trail.
Difficulty: Moderately difficult tour with single trail section

Tour description: From the village center of Tux-Vorderlanersbach, follow your route in several hairpin bends through meadows and fields and past several old farms - the so-called hamlet of Schöneben. The route continues over a stream, then branches off to the right and climbs up to the Hobalm. This is where the gravel path begins, which leads up to the Geiseljoch through beautiful alpine terrain.

Medium-difficulty tour to the Eggalm (2,000 m) and Brandalm (1,680 m) up to the picturesque district of Tux-Juns, nestled between mountains. Two rustic mountain pastures in the Tuxertal await you on this challenging mountain bike tour!

Tip: Marvel at the picture-book panorama on the Eggalm sun terrace
Difficulty: Moderately difficult tour

Tour description: From Tux-Vorderlanersbach, the route first climbs up several hairpin bends to the Eggalm mountain inn. After a stop for refreshments with stunning panoramic views of the Zillertal and Tux Alps, the route continues slightly downhill and after several hairpin bends to the Brandalm, which is surrounded by idyllic meadows and forests. The tour then continues downhill to the picturesque village of Juns.

Challenging single trail (downhill) from the Tuxerjoch down to Kasern. A tough tour for real mountain bike and downhill champions!

Riding time: 4 hours
Altitude difference: Start 1,491 m (Hintertux), tour finish 2,338 m (Tuxer Joch), end Kasern / Schmirn
Kilometers: 13.9 km
Tip: Singletrail requires full concentration - if in doubt, it is better to dismount!
Difficulty: difficult single trail with steps, hairpin bends and stones

Tour description: At the start of the mountain bike tour, you ride from Hintertux on the moderately ascending gravel road (no. 426) up to the Bichlalm snack station. You then cross the Weitentalbach stream, explore a magnificent larch forest and then master the ascent to the Sommerbergalm. Several hairpin bends and steep gravel ramps take you to the Tuxerjochhaus. From here, you pedal hard to get up to the Tuxer Joch. Once at the top, the challenging single trail begins, leading 600 meters down into the valley and to the mountain village of Kasern

Single trails in Tuxertal: pure adrenaline for freeriders

Two really strong single trails await on the Penken, the mountain between Tux and Finkenberg. The “Höllenritt” and “Himmelfahrt” downhill trails deliver what their names promise: Challenging North Shore obstacles - jumps, steep bends, wave tracks - will make your bike glow. Less experienced freeriders can ride around the obstacles on the “Chickenway”. The ascent is possible with the chairlift.
